Facility Usage Discussion

Join us for a Facility Usage Discussion in the Fall 2025 at Schmitt Elementary. A third-party facilitator will be leading this meeting to discuss community feedback. Dr. Marrero will be present to discuss how we will make this decision come to life. This meeting is open to all, but we want to ensure the voices of our Schmitt families are heard!  Interpretation services, childcare and light refreshments will be provided.

While we know the Fall feels like a long time from now, we wanted to keep you updated on the timeline for this important conversation. We will share further information as it is available. We hope to see you in Fall 2025.

Why this school?

  • Elementary school enrollment in sub-region has declined and will continue to decline

  • Low building utilization of 33%

  • Cluster is utilizing 55% of seats

  • School does not have a full class of K

  • Choice process through zone affords strong access to surrounding well performing schools

What happens to students?

  • All 100 transitioning students are guaranteed a seat within new enrollment zone

    • All students have closing school choice priority at all DPS schools.

    • Includes zone transportation

    • Schmitt boundary residents will have proximity choice priority to Godsman

  • Transportation provided to qualifying students, but schools are extremely close together and most boundary reside students will be within walk radius
