New Community Information:

  • After school enrichment registration is now open until August 22 for after school enrichment.

  • Classroom Guardians act as a liaison between the classroom teacher and the rest of the caregivers. They help organize a booth for our annual Fall Festival, create a basket for our annual EdFest fundraiser auction, collect donations, and support with information dissemination. If you are interested in serving in this role, please fill out this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdz0m36P84fimT18M-QCRIfS9X55WGUHPTUs9kRvEAj5H2oTA/viewform

  • Accessing the New DPS App and Rooms - As many of you are aware, DPS has moved to using a new communication platform called Apptegy. This platform will completely replace ClassDojo, so it is important to download the new app. Attached is a quick 3 step "how-to" guide to the app and what it looks like. PLEASE NOTE: When you search in the app store, please search “Denver Public Schools” NOT Apptegy. The app has the DPS logo on it. You will then need to click on the “rooms” tab and sign in. Once you get logged in using the same email you use to access ParentPortal, please turn on your notifications so you receive alerts for timely messages and updates from your child's teacher and the school as a whole. To do this, navigate to the "more" tab on the bottom right and then click on the settings wheel in the top right. Click on "notification preferences" and set up how you'd like to receive notifications. We are aware that many people are having difficulties getting access to this app. DPS is working on providing better instructions, which we will share when they are available.

  • The fall 2025 BESS window is now open for parents/caregivers: The BESS survey is a social-emotional screening tool which, accompanied by other data, is used to drive decisions for students’ behavioral, social emotional and mental health needs and supports. Please complete the parent BESS survey for your student at: https://review360connect.com/Prod/DenverPublicSchools/Parent/EnterStudentNumber

  • Heat at Edison: During the late summer, Denver can experience extreme heat. There are 29  schools within DPS that have partial or no air conditioning and may experience increased temperatures within the building - and Edison is one of them. We understand that heat days come with short notice and are an inconvenience for many of our families, and that child care may be an issue for some. We make every effort to ensure that our school stays open and that our students and educators feel comfortable; our number one priority is the safety and well-being of them all. If the temperature within our facility rises to a degree that we feel is unsafe to host classes, there is a possibility that our school may have an early-release Heat Day. Edison has the following solutions in place to reduce the impact of extreme heat within our school: cooling air system, portable cooling units, potential early release day after an extended forecast of extreme-heat conditions. In the event that we do need to declare an early-release Heat Day, we will communicate the decision by 5 p.m. the day prior to the early release or closure. An early-release Heat Day notice or closure will immediately be posted on our school’s website. An email and automated robo-call will be sent out to alert our families of the change in schedule for the following day. We are working closely with DPS Transportation to ensure that a modified bus route will be implemented on an early-release Heat Day, and that students will be dropped off at their normal locations. Parents who do not wish for their students to ride the bus home during the heat day's early release do have the option to pick up their students from the school at the designated release time.
