Traylor Core Values

We believe in Respect

  • We take care of ourselves, each other, and our school community. We show care for the safety, rights, and feelings of all people.

We believe in Community

  • Everyone is welcome at Traylor. We value and celebrate all people. We believe that we are better together than we are apart from each other.

We believe in Kindness

  • We are kind to ourselves, and we treat others the way they want to be treated. Kindness is a gift that is free to give and feels good to receive.

2024-2025 Black Excellence Plan

Mission

Traylor exists to be a community school centered on kindness and respect.  We believe that we are better together than we are apart from each other and that everyone is welcome here.

Vision

We strive to be the positive and inclusive “hub” of Bear Valley with academic, social/emotional, and enrichment support and services for students, staff, and families.

Because we are a school who serves a diverse population and cares about continually learning to show up the best we can for our students, we commit to the following actions as our Black Excellence Plan for this year.  These action steps will help our adults build learning, self awareness, and best practices to better meet the needs of our Black students and families.

Action Steps for Traylor Staff

  • The Dean of Culture and Principal will engage with students, staff, and families to create and define Traylor’s mission and vision of Black Excellence.

  • The principal will work with the Gifted and Talented teacher and classroom teachers to identify Black students achieving at and above grade level standards for the Talent Pool and possible enrichment programming.

  • The school staff will complete year one of a two year equity driven series: The Four Pivots from the work of Dr. Shawn Ginwright, a leading expert on the trauma of and empowerment of Black youth. Website
